Kampong Ayer is one of the main tourist attractions in Brunei. The people of Kampong Ayer mostly work as a fisherman and some work in the government or private sector. They travel around by "Perahu Tambang" (Water Taxi). Kampong Ayer means "Water Village" and most of the houses there were made of wood however some were given modern touches to their houses such as concrete stilts and walls. The houses are connected by a network of bridges which they called "Jambatan". You would be amazed of the villagers walking on these bridges while carrying heavy stuff. You can also see children running around and playing kites on these bridges. The people of Kampong Ayer were very shy but still very polite and well-mannered to each other or foreigners.
